River Bottom

River Bottom Hunting Beagles derive from 4 main hunting beagle bloodlines, two of which have more influence than the other two. These four bloodlines are Dingus Macrae, Yellow Creek, Gay Baker & Indian Hills. With this being said, it is the linebred hounds that derived from Dingus Macrae and Yellow Creek being which are our main lines with Gay Baker & Indian Hills being heavy influences.

The chemistry of these four lines being linebred gives us the Nose, Drive, Hunt, Search & Brains that are a necessity for the terrain and conditions in which we are blessed with in this part of the country, but we are confident and comfortable that these hounds can adapt to any conditions or terrain. Though it is hard to define a “scale”, I consider our hound’s speed to be a 7/8 on a scale of 1-10, with hard hunt, good search and the brains & nose to jump and line a rabbit as they should. Our dogs are absolutely “meat hounds”.

The background of where our hounds derive from are from some of the best hounds that certain kennels had to offer within their own kennels, such as; the hounds that derived from the Dingus Macrae with Indian Hills influence from Perry’s Kennels, Larry Perry… Our Yellow Creek Influence from Alamo Creek, Mike Oszust, along with the hounds that derived from Dingus Macrae with Gay Baker influence from the Hills Shake Rag Kennels, Kenneth, Nick & Brad Hill & the Yellow Creek hounds of Happyrun Kennels, Dan Kane from Canada {see old stud ad}. Many of which came to us via Laneline Beagles assembling and linebreeding.

Some of the main influences in our kennel include Laneline Yellow Creek Dingus, Laneline Lady Of Oz, Laneline Lone Ranger & Laneline Perry’s Sonny. More photos and pedigrees will be added to our site in time, so please visit often.

Within the pedigree of Hill’s Shake Rag Ozzie within the “see old stud ad”, on the bottom side you will see the female “River Bottom Mindy” in which I was the breeder of. Mindy and her mates along with several other related hounds were all great gundogs in which “DNA” I am pleased to get back, combined with the addition of the above mentioned bloodlines. I owned Mindy and several other beagles years ago but went another route for a few years, I purchased and owned Plott Hounds and pursued the sport of Bear & Hog hunting and enjoyed it greatly. However, I am now solely “back to beagles” and am very pleased with what I have, but I am always pursuing to be better.

My name is Darryl Quarles, please feel free to contact me any time to talk hounds, hunting and/or concerning future pups that we occasionally may have available.

NOTE:  We were blessed to have had two of our dogs "Jade & Abbey" to earn the titles “Rabbit Champion” within the last year. We also have two more that are “Near Champions”, Betsy & Banjo.
